Kelis

Kelis Rogers-Jones (born Kelis Rogers on August 21, 1979), is known simply by her first name Kelis (pronounced Kuh-lees). Her name is an amalgamation of her parents' first names, her black father Kenneth and Chinese-Puerto Rican mother Eveliss. Growing up in Middle Class Harlem, New York Kelis' childhood was not a deprived one. But she was not without problems, after her parents realised they could not cope with her unruly behaviour (Kelis shaved all her hair off at age 13, soon afterwards dyeing the regrowth the colors of the rainbow)...

Penguins

A post-pseudo psychedelic band from Wellington, New Zealand, formed in 2008 by school chums Aaron Cope (Lead guitar), Geoff Doyle (Bass Guitar) and Matt de Wit (Rhythm guitar). Penguins are an experimental, guitar based, rock band influenced by a variety of bands ranging from The Mars Volta, Arctic Monkeys and Neutral Milk Hotel. With an innovative post-psychedelic sound, Penguins often verge on Syd Barret-era Pink Floyd, yet they maintain the striking solidity of Nick O'Malley's Bass lines. Many have also compared their vocals and lyrics to that of Jeff Mangum.
