Musiq Soulchild (born Taalib Johnson on September 16, 1977 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), is an American, neo soul and R&B artist, and was one of the most popular artists on the Def Jam/Def Soul label. Since 2001, he has gone by simply "Musiq", he dropped the "Soulchild" from his moniker, because he said he had not mastered his craft yet, and thus was not yet "music's soulchild". Since 2007's "Luvanmusiq," however, he has reclaimed the surname.

Dwele

Andwele Gardner (born February 14, 1978 in Detroit, Michigan), better known simply as Dwele, is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter and producer known for his work with Slum Village, J Dilla and Kanye West. After self-releasing the demo tape Rize in 2000, he released his debut studio album Subject in 2003 through Virgin Records, his second album Some Kinda followed in 2005 and his third studio album Sketches of a Man was released in 2008. His fourth studio album W.W.W. (W.ants. W.orld. W.omen) was released in 2010.

Future Islands

Future Islands (formed 2006) is a synthpop band based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are often associated with (and tour with) bands affiliated with Wham City. These include Videohippos, Santa Dads, Blood Baby, OCDJ, Adventure, Dan Deacon, Weekends (band), Double Dagger, as well and others.
History The band met and formed in Greenville, NC while studying art at East Carolina University. At first it was Art Lord & the Self-Portraits, which was composed of J. Gerrit Welmers, Samuel T. Herring, William Cashion, Adam Beeby, and Kymia Nawabi.

David Myles

There are several artists named David Myles: 1) Canadian singer-songwriter David Myles' second full-length album, "Things Have Changed", is the latest in a long line of musical achievements. At age eleven, he was a finalist in the Connaught Street School lip synch contest for his version of "Heartbreak Hotel". Ten years later, Myles played with a blues band in a Chinese soccer stadium. The show was televised to millions of people. Back in Canada, he opened for west-coast rap group "The Rascalz" as a beat-boxer. This year he played trumpet on recent but unreleased Buck 65 recordings.
