The Break

At least 2 bands go by the name of The Break 1) The Break - New Jersey. Most bands in the world can be lumped into one category or another, they are shuffled, redefined, and in that way they begin to lose the qualities that could make them important or meaningful. The greatest bands, the most influential or memorable, are the ones who don't try to fill the role set for them, who don't pursue anything other than the desire to make music, and the need to express that art to an audience. From the start, The Break has had this aesthetic in mind.

Spor

Twenty six year old Jon Gooch, known as ‘Spor’, has quickly risen to the forefront edge of Drum & Bass production. Spor, from Hertfordshire in England, got his name from a combination of one of the first folders of samples he obtained, entitled 'Spore Tactics', and a favorite piece of artwork by a friend. Graffiti outlining eventually meant he would drop the 'e' to leave a more balanced arrangement.

Netsky

Hailing from a small town in Belgium, Netsky (real name: Boris Daenen) is one of the most promising upcoming producers of the moment. In the last 4 years involved in music production, he realized that he likes his drum & bass deep and soulful. He is trying to balance the deepness and musicality of his sound with heavy beats and bass to keep the dancefloor alive. With a number of 12"s on Hype's Liqweed Ganja and Twisted Individual's Allsorts in the pipeline, he's on the way to being a big name.

Break

Acquiring a love for the breakbeat through jazz and funk records, Break took to the drums at a young age, learning piano along the way and taking to the turntables at the age of fourteen. A talented musician with a wide range of influences, Break looks to push the barriers in whatever he’s doing. Crisp breaks, heavy bass and strong melody are stable marks of his productions making him a firm favourite with a variety of the scenes top DJs.

LTJ Bukem

In the mid eighties, at the age of seventeen, Bukem discovered the joys of clubbing. The teenager regularly checked out the local soul clubs and legendary rare groove all dayers. During this time he also ran a jazz funk band. DJing however, was his main thing and by 1987 he gained something of a reputation for his sets. Livewire

The Livewire Gang consists of many artists from various neighborhoods in North, East, and West Oakland; J Stalin, Shady Nate, Jay Jonah, Philthy Rich, Stevie Joe, Lil Rue, Lil Blood, Ruben Stunner, R.O.B., Ronald Mack, Kiwi, HD, and Mayback. Livewire Records was founded in mid 2004 during the splurge of the Hyphy Movement By West oakland native artist and rapper J Stalin. He created the label for him and his camp J Jonah and Shady Nate to debut there music, and a way to keep all there business within the family.

Commix

Commix are George Levings and Guy Brewer, a UK drum and bass duo from Cambridge who have had tracks signed to Goldie's Metalheadz label and Hospital Records. Commix tracks generally have a light, eerie and experimental feel to them; all tracks on their Call To Mind LP are shipped with the "progressive electronic" sub genre to reflect their sound. Commix are part of The Cambridge Four, including themselves, Logistics and Nu:Tone, to produce NHS74: The Future Sound of Cambridge, released on Hospital Records.

Greg Packer

From Gregs Myspace: Greg began Dj-ing in 1989 at the age of 17 shortly after emigrating to Perth Western Australia from Northampton England, he had been a heavy collector of vinyl since 1982 and since he already had a collection of 1000+ he decided it was time to purchase some decks and get seriously into dj-ing. The music Greg was collecting in the 80's was mainly hip hop, electro, soul & funk and a bit of reggae/dub, when he began mixing it was strictly hip hop until late 1990 when Greg was taken to a club in Perth called Limbo's and heard a Dj 'Dave Jackson' spin some early house...
