What has become of Heartbreak Club (HBC)? Once a straight-up parody of angst-ridden pop, HBC are rapidly becoming Australia's beacon of hope for Geek Rock; spearheading a new wave of 1990's inspired intelligent, ironic and self-deprecating punk-infused tunes. In doing so, HBC have recorded a new, darker and grittier album that is 'unapologetically melodic; adopting a brutally honest, confessional and grungier tone' than previous efforts, with the band noting their admiration for Weezer, Regurgitator, Blink 182 and Nirvana. They are still geeks, however.

Nekromantix are a <a href="http://www.last.fm/tag/psychobilly" class="bbcode_tag" rel="tag">psychobilly</a> band that formed in <a href="http://www.last.fm/tag/copenhagen">Copenhagen</a>, Denmark in 1989. The Nekromantix were formed in 1989 in Copenhagen by Kim Nekroman after he left the Danish Navy, in which he had been a submarine radio operator. Deciding to launch a new career in music, he initially played drums in a rockabilly band prior to the foundation of Nekromantix. Learning to play the double bass and to sing, Nekroman set about forming a horror-themed psychobilly band with himself as the frontman. The band lineup is currently rounded out by Franc (guitar) and Lux (drums).

Steve Ignorant is a singer and artist. He co-founded the anarchist punk rock band Crass with Penny Rimbaud in 1977, and has worked with other groups including Conflict, Schwartzeneggar (sic), The Stratford Mercenaries and Current 93 (under the name Stephen Intelligent) as well as being an occasional solo performer. He is also a sculptor, and has worked as a traditional Punch and Judy performer using the name Professor Ignorant. In recent years he has developed an interest in the history of traditional east London music hall performance.

Future of the Left is an alternative rock band formed in 2005 in Cardiff, Wales. The initial line-up brought together former mclusky singer/guitarist Andrew Falkous (aka Falco) and drummer Jack Egglestone with former Jarcrew guitarist Kelson Mathias and bassist Hywel Evans. Evans soon left to start his own group, so Mathias took up the bass, and after initial gigs under a variety of tongue-in-cheek pseudonyms the remaining trio debuted as Future Of The Left in September 2006.
