Slash

Saul Hudson (born July 23, 1965), more widely known as Slash, is a guitarist best known as a former member of Guns N' Roses.
Slash was born in Hampstead, England to a English father, Anthony Hudson, and a black American mother, Ola, both of whom were involved with show business. Slash's mother designed David Bowie's costumes from The Man Who Fell to Earth, and his father was an artist who designed album covers for artists including Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. Hudson was raised in Stoke-on-Trent until the age of 11, when he and his mother moved to Los Angeles, California.

Artist Type:

Heart

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Heart got their start in 1963 in Seattle, Washington formed by bassist Steve Fossen and brothers Roger Fisher (guitar/mandolin) and Mike Fisher (producer and sound engineer). The group went by the names Army and White Heart before settling on just Heart in the early 1970s. Ann Wilson joined the group in 1970. Romance sprang up between her and Mike, and she came along when they moved to Vancouver to avoid the Vietnam draft some years later.

Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi is a hard rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. Fronted by lead singer and namesake Jon Bon Jovi (born John Francis Bongiovi, Jr.), the group originally achieved large-scale success in the 1980s. Bon Jovi formed in 1983 with lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, guitarist Richie Sambora, keyboardist David Bryan, bassist Alec John Such, and drummer Tico Torres. Other than the departure of Alec John Such in 1994 (which pared the lineup down to a quartet), the lineup has remained the same for the past 27 years.

Villa

With almost ten years of DJ experience behind them, Fredo & Thang step up their game. First there was the Gameplay edit of Beirut’s indie gem Nantes – cooked up as a secret weapon but soon receiving kudos from major players such as Laurent Garnier, Dixon and Tim Sweeney. Soon after, a hook up with vintage synth collector Seba, resulted in the birth of Villa. The well seasoned composer/producer resides in his cosy farmhouse, surrounded by a collection of rare musical toys – a perfect setting for this new musical venture.

Final Frontier

Combining the talents of Canadian vocalist Rob Moratti and countryman guitarist Mladen (of Von Groove fame), Final Frontier is essentially a paean to all of the bygone AOR rockers from years past. Featuring all of the sugary sweet melodies and fiery guitar solos that were the hallmark of the genre, they pay tribute to bands like Journey, Styx, Foreigner, and the rest of their brethren. Final Frontier is one of the very best AOR acts today. If you loved the music Journey made in the 80s then you will like this band, although I want to stress that they are no copycats.

Backsliders

There are at least 3 bands called Backsliders. One is from Australia (see http://www.backsliders.com.au) and the other, from Finland, is described below. The third is an alternative country rock band from Raleigh, North Carolina. Finnish biker band Backsliders were Marko Asser Hirsma (vocals & bass), Dan "Danny" Peter Wilhelm Eklund (guitar), Antti Kalervo "Ana" Haglund (drums) and Olli Sakari Hilden (except on the first two albums where they were a trio) (guitar). On the latest album Marko Kainulainen (played with Andy McCoy and Boycott) replaced Antti Haglund who passed away.

Hell Crab City

Sydney, Australia band, Hell Crab City do rough and tumble pub-rock n' roll. Featuring ex-members from The New Christs, Panadolls, WWXXIV, Jim Cobain, and S-Bahn, their debut album "Nicotine Blues" is relentless garage-punk, rocknroll. Loud, dirty and nasty. In 2010 the band released its second album, "Full Bore" on Turkeyneck Records. Miles ahead of their debut in sound and balls out ferocity. Dual guitars blazing over the top of a powerhouse rhythm section.

Artist Type:

Kinoath

A new Brisbane four-piece, formed originally in 2009 as Broken Silence but adopting the Kinoath moniker early 2010, they play a blend of heavy metal riffage with a catchy hard rock aesthetic. The group originally formed in halves - George Phillips (lead guitar) and Mitch Gardner (bass) having been school friends for years and in previous bands together before they filled the spots lacking in the band started by Jake Kowalonek (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Jasper Warmington (drums).
