DJ Vadim

DJ Vadim (aka Vadim Peare, real name Andrey Gurov) is a prolific DJ from Russia, based in London. His music combines hip hop and electronica and his recording technique involves very precise sampling as opposed to looping. He signed to Ninja Tune in 1992, and founded his own independent record label, Jazz Fudge in 1995. Aside from DJ-ing, he has worked in numerous roles including A&R, promoter, and radio presenter on the BBC's "Around The World In Eight Relays".

Syntax

At least three artists share the name Syntax: 1) "Syntax" are a London based electronic duo formed by MIKE TOURNIER and Jan Burton in 2002. Mike Tornier is well known for his work as a 'groove technician' with 90s electronica setup "Fluke". Jan Burton (vocals), influenced by bands like "The Doors" and "Pink Floyd", calls himself 'Mr Five Piece Band and Guitars.' The first single "Pray" (2002) made top 30, was a dancefloor smasher and was leading them to a contract with the Illustrious label.

Bomb The Bass

Bomb the Bass (formed 1987, in London, England) is the umbrella title for the output of British musician and producer, Tim Simenon. The band, which has evolved its style over the years, has been classed as electronic or dance. As a name, Bomb the Bass came from Simenon's approach to collaging and mixing sounds whilst DJing in the mid to late 1980s; he says "samples were either scratched in live or sampled and looped on top of the rhythm section.

Sia

Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, to use the name her musician parents gave her, already has a staggering track record. If her name itself - pronounced 'See-ah' - isn't familiar to millions, her voice undoubtedly is. In 2000, the Adelaide born singer scored a bolt from the blue Top 10 hit with her debut single, Taken for Granted. Pairing her unique Australian drawl with the strident strings from Sergei Prokofiev's 'Romeo & Juliet', the track was championed by Trevor Nelson and had Sia performing live on Jo Whiley's Radio 1 show.

Faithless

Formed in 1995 by Sister Bliss, Faithless is a London, England, United Kingdom-based group of musicians whose music is described by one of their band member as a cross between trip-hop and techno. The four original members of Faithless were rapper Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss, instrumentalist/vocalist Jamie Catto and producer Rollo Armstrong. Jamie Catto (now in 1 Giant Leap) left after their second album, Sunday 8pm, which was released in 1998. Rollo Armstrong's sister Dido also features on several Faithless tracks.

DJ I-Dee

Growing up in the suburbs of Washington DC, I-Dee (born Isaac DeLima) began his career in the mid nineties at the tender age of 10. Beginning battling in 2002, I-Dee won numerous regional titles up and down the East Coast which sparked ears to open as he was slowly beginning to become a force to be reckoned with. Ultimately, he solidified his name in 2006, at the age of 19, by winning the DMC USA, Scribble Jam and Gong World Supremacy titles in 6 months. No other DJ had accomplished such a remarkable act within a short period of time.

Little Dragon

Little Dragon is an electronic music group formed in 2006 and based in Gothenburg, Sweden. The band is made up of Yukimi Nagano (vocals), Fredrick Källgren (bass), Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards) and Erik Bodin (drums). To date, they released two studio albums: Little Dragon (2007) and Machine Dreams (2009). Their first release was a double-A-side 7" single on Off The Wall (later signed to Peacefrog) that had two tracks: "Twice" and "Test".

Husky

There are at least two bands named "Husky". 1) Polish electronica-downtempo duo consisting of Patrycja Hefczynska (vocalist/writer) and Jacek Dojwa (composer/producer). Their music is influenced by such artists as Björk, Craig Armstrong, Amon Tobin, Telefon Tel Aviv, Portishead and Lamb. They released two LP's: "Czy słyszysz?" (eng. Do you hear) in 2002 and "Zgadnij" (eng. Guess) in 2006. 2) Based in Charlotte, NC, Husky is made up of Mark Hadden (bass), Phil Strickland (guitar), and Nate Wilkinson (drums).
