Reggae Dancehall Meets Afrobeats

Melbourne boasts to have the most reggae & Dancehall selectors in the big brown land. Burn City is the reggae capital of Australia and on December 17th will be a night to remember. We have gathered together some of Burn City's finest selectors and we are putting them up against each other for one night of pure niceness. This event has been in the making for a while now. Which vibe will you like more? Will it be the original reggae music vibe, or will it be the Afro-Beats vibe? Maybe you will be coming for the strictly dancehall vibe. Will you be there to see this first of its kind event in Australia? The tickets will strictly be limited for this one .

Bette Foord

Bette Foord is a melodramatic Melbourne musician with a ukulele and some stories to tell: Some haunting, some funny, and some to warm your heart.

Bette began performing and songwriting at a young age and uses many different themes in her songs including love, loss, online dating, sex, disability & even food.

Recently, Bette has had success on Atomic radio's Top 20 Countdown, having not only held number 1 position for weeks but also, always having multiple original songs in charting positions in the Top 20.

Bette is an unapologetic activist for pleasure, feminism, & people being their authentic selves as well as health/disability and breast cancer awareness (the whole reason she turned pink).

Bette is also passionate about qdvocating for accessibility in the music industry and her dream is to play Abilityfest.

Looking like a 50s siren, sounding like a modern day boss bitch - you're going to want to keep your eyes - and ears - locked on to her.

High Pass Filter

High Pass Filter were a live electro-dub band formed in Melbourne, Australia. The band was active from 1995–2006 and supported many major touring artists such as Beastie Boys, Blues Explosion, Tortoise, Fugazi, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, The Boredoms and Mad Professor.

The group began as a live dub outfit playing local clubs and bars around Melbourne's Fitzroy area. They quickly became known for their experimental sound and mostly instrumental songs. Live concerts regularly involved the use of unconventional instruments such as looped tape machines, conch shells, telephone receivers, air tubes and a variety of toys. During early shows, guitarist Kelly Ryall regularly played one of the infamous Travis Bean aluminium neck guitars - a TB1000 owned by bassist Anthony Paine. High Pass Filter played the 'Hot House' stage at the Sydney leg of the Big Day Out Festival in 2000.[4] Two of their songs were broadcast from the festival on local radio station Triple J. The band also played several live sessions for the ABC's Radio National public radio service.

Many of the band members have since gone on to form or collaborate with a variety of acts including One Watt Sun,The Hired Guns, Beam Up, Leather Pet, Legends of Motorsport, The Snuff Puppets, Snout, and Will Guthrie.

Electronicist Brian May is currently running 3 aliases (Beam Up, DJ Delay,[8] Sonical,) and creates sound installations for visual artists such as John Aslanidis Guitarist Kelly Ryall composes music for theatre, film, dance and performance with, amongst other collaborators, the Melbourne Theatre Company. Bass player Anthony Paine can be found building and repairing guitars under the name Harvester Guitars as well as continuing to be involved with bands. Notably, Black Cab who were nominated for the Australian Music Prize in 2009.

For an all-night takeover of Max Watt’s, LA have invited Iran-based sound artist Sote in collaboration with audio-visual composer Tarik Barri on an immersive Live AV work. They’ll be joined by the king of experimental dembow from The Dominican Republic/New York heavy hitter Kelman Duran, and West Papuan music producer Asep Nayak, who has been redefining the Wisisi music of his home region, creating rapid, relentless, and euphoric ceremonial sounds.

The Crystal Method

The Crystal Method is an American electronic music act formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, by Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland in the early 1990s. They were pioneers of the big beat genre and their music has appeared in numerous TV shows, films, video games, and advertisements. Their 1997 debut studio album Vegas was certified platinum in 2007, and saw follow-ups Tweekend, Legion of Boom, Divided by Night, and The Crystal Method. In 2017, Ken Jordan retired from music and left the group, with Scott Kirkland adopting The Crystal Method as a solo moniker.

The Crystal Method originally had two members, Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland. Before The Crystal Method was formed, Jordan and Kirkland started working on music while working at a grocery store. Jordan was also a local DJ in Las Vegas as well as the college radio program director at UNLV. Jordan taught Kirkland how to DJ, and when Jordan moved to Los Angeles to work for a producer, Kirkland took over his job DJing at the local club. Kirkland also moved out to Los Angeles, and they formed The Crystal Method in 1993.

While working as a production duo for a rapper, a person named Crystal would handle transportation needs. The rapper repeatedly referred to her method of transportation as "The Crystal Method." The pair adopted the name based on the layout of the three words and the sound of the name.

Haiku Hands, the elusive crew of artists who’s in influence can be felt across live performance, visual art and production exploded onto the scene with their irresistibly danceable single “Not About You”. The unapologetic Australian collective have quickly earnt a fierce reputation for themselves from their formidable and rambunctious live performances that lead audience after audience into utter pandemonium. Last year slaying sets at Falls, St Jerome's Laneway, The Plot, Wonderland Scarehouse Tour, BigSound, One Day, Sunday x Red Bull Academy, Pitch and Panama Festivals. Working with some of Australia’s finest writers and producers, such as El Gusto (Hermitude), Joelistics, Jaytee Hazard and Lewis Can Cut, Haiku Hands curate, perform and collaborate to form genre bending songs with influences from hip hop, pop, electronic, dance and disco. 2018 will see their dance cards filled with a string of UK shows, festival sets at The Great Escape, Dot to Dot (Manchester Bristol
