Strange Tenants
Over 20 years on, as their legendary status has grown, most people are aware that Strange Tenants were the pre-eminent Australian SKA band of the 1980s. What is often overlooked today, however, is that at their peak, they were one of the most popular and successful live bands of any style. In the early 1980s, hundreds, sometimes thousands of fans - referred to by the music press as "the Tenants' army" - swarmed to their gigs up and down the east coast of Australia. Strange Tenants also did national tours with international acts such as U2, Style Council and UB40.
Pnau
Pnau is an Australian dance music duo from Sydney, NSW made up of Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes. The duo released their debut album Sambanova in 1999 under the Peking Duck label. However, the album was pulled from record stores due to uncleared samples a week before they won an ARIA Award for Best Dance Release. Warner Music Australasia re-released it in 2000, then released 'Need Your Lovin' Baby' in 2001.
Never See Tomorrow
Originating from the coastal city of Wollongong Australia, Never See Tomorrow have been making a name for themselves in a big way since they first debuted in 2006.
In their short time as a band, this young but talented 5 piece ‘metalcore’ act have set their hopes high and achieved much in the past year…Having played numerous amounts of shows up and down the Australian coast has seen the band develop a large fan base in the metal/hardcore scene. Whilst pulling a further amount of attention for their recent cover of Vanessa Carlton’s, 1000 Miles.
Anime Fire
Born out of the southern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia in the Autumn of 2005, Anime Fire is a brooding combination of hardcore and electronic influences that have melted together to produce a sound and style that is dark, melodic, energized and emotional in its execution. The 4-piece delivers a new interpretation of melodic hardcore, when fused with modern metal and break beat electronica to create something all to their own. This is an act that is not afraid to push the boundaries both in the studio and with their live show.
Vince Jones
Vince Jones (born 1954) is an Australian jazz artist. He is a singer, songwriter, and trumpet/flugelhorn player. His music includes both original music and new contemporary versions of jazz standards. He attributes his love of jazz to hearing a recording of Miles Davis's Sketches of Spain when he was about 14. He taught himself to play the trumpet. Vince was born in Glasgow, Scotland and his family moved to Wollongong, Australia when he was 11 years old. He began his career as a bebop trumpet player.
Frente!
Frente! was an Australian alternative pop/rock group, formed in 1991. The lineup featured singer Angie Hart, founder and guitarist Simon Austin, bassist Tim O'Connor (later replaced by Bill McDonald), and drummer Mark Picton (later replaced by Alastair Barden). Frente! burst onto the Australian music charts with the singles "Ordinary Angels" and "Accidently Kelly Street" in 1992. Frente!'s debut album, Marvin the Album was also a success, going platinum in Australia.
Lady Strangelove
Lady Strangelove combines the minds of Brendan Shaw, (vocals, harmonica, tambourine, percussion) Azz Shaw (Bass, Keyboard, Sampler), Josh Van Looy (Guitar), and Damo Satanek (Drums) to crete an experimental style of psychedelic dance-rock, fusing influences so vast that they span everything from Pink Floyd, Santa and Jimi Hendrix to The Chemical Brotheres, The Mars Volta, The Music, and Comets on Fire.
The Bon Scotts
The Bon Scotts are a five piece from Melbourne, with a catchy, playful and above all, honest energetic music. Formed in 2005 the band released only one EP, the yellow fall before disbanding. Reforming in 2009 to record Oddernity the band has quickly gained recognition with its animated live show and distinctive image. Confounded by Zimmerman’s witty and pertinent song writing, rarely is a new music more considered, confident and ingenuous.
