Artist Type:

Antarctica

There is more than one artist with this name: 1.) New Yorkians Antarctica transcend the realm of consciousness into a world entirely their own. They build upon the dark overtones and the gloomy pop sensibility of The Cure and Slowdive while taking epic steps in new aesthetics. Their albums gesture to Antarctica's ability to blend melancholy and joy in epic structure. Vocalist Eric Richter once also fronted the influential emo band Christie Front Drive and has gone on to be in The 101 and Golden City.

Artist Type:

Whitey

There is more than one artist with the name Whitey:
1. A solo project by <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/N.J.+Whitey" class="bbcode_artist">N.J. Whitey</a>;
2. A blues-based-doom band from Boston, Massachusetts. 1. Whitey is an ongoing solo project by N.J. Whitey. He is a hard character to pin down- his genre-twisting songs swing wildly between styles, and his dismissive attitude towards the music industry means there are few shows, and even fewer interviews. He has to date had no major record deal, but has still released over 30 records under a variety of names.

Rush In Attack

Rush In Attack are a four piece melodic Indie Rock band based in Melbourne, Victoria. In the past year they have been tearing up Melbourne venues such as The Espy, The Arthouse, Pony, IDGAFF, Pogo and Noise Bar with their extremely catchy Pop Rock tunes. Ask them about their influences and you’ll get a wide variety of bands from early 90’s Britpop to Twitchy Electro to Melodic Hardcore. That’s the beauty of Rush In Attack, their sound can only be described as a modern mash up of the last 70 years of popular music in one explosive live set like an 8-Bit assault on the senses.

Artist Type:

New Navy

Fresh on the back of their 2010 JD Set win which included a gig with iconic Aussie rockers 'Wolfmother' and a behind-the-scenes reality show on Chanel V, Sydney's New Navy are certainly on the brink of something special. Described by triple J’s Dom Alessio as “having a ton of potential, combining really well the sounds of Britain and the sounds of the U.S”, the young quartet draw influence from such great pop and indie acts as The Cure and Talking heads, combined with contemporary artists such as Vhs or Beta, Klaxons and The Editors.

Artist Type:

The Dirty Feel

The Dirty Feel summon images of Godzilla stamping through London sneering 'Talk In the City' with their bombastic sound of heavy drums and grunge guitars. But be prepared for a surprise as this monster comes over all cuddly and sits down for a clap-along outro

Artist Type:

Unknown Mortal Orchestra

Unknown Mortal Orchestra first dropped into the world in late 2010 as a bandcamp account carrying a single called ‘Ffunny Ffrends’. ‘Ffunny Ffrends’ was everything you imagined it might be – alien beatnik pop music that echoed 60s psychedelia and krautrock minimalism with just a hint of gentle weirdness that suggested its roots might equally lie in the verdant indie of the equally distant New Zealand scene.
